How I Learned to Stop Worrying & Love Nic Cage
Mike here. I just wanted to check in prior to launch & touch on a few things happening behind the scenes before we go LIVE ! Packages have been pouring in, running times are compared & I try my hardest not to watch a movie early.
Since #CageClub started I’ve had to buy most of his filmography & lucky for us his movies are very affordable. I’ve seen most of Cage’s films before but in order to take this to the next level ownership of the entire catalog is necessary. This has led to many deliveries over the past two weeks. If only the mail man knew what was brewing. I know many of the earlier titles but what about some of these more recent affairs I never heard of ? We will cover it all, eventually !
As the Cage Clock moves closer to midnight I find myself conversing with Joey via messenger & volleying over twitter more and more. While we track down and complete our collections the issue of “Extended Editions” has arisen. For the movies that were released on Blu Ray or DVD in a “Director’s Cut” or “Extended Cut” we will watch the longer versions. The idea is to get as much Cage for our dollar as possible & to see every frame of celluloid he’s committed to screen.
It’s been an act of self discipline eclipsed only by a Shaolin Monk that keeps me from cracking open one of these movies early. I never officially committed to fasting before we launch but that is what’s going down. I didn’t think it would be that tough but it’s as if Cage is taunting me. I flip through the channels at night & come across “Windtalkers” or “Valley Girl”. I watched a half hour of “Gone in 60 Seconds” on basic cable before I caught myself & turned it off. Netflix isn’t much better as many Cage movies are ready to stream right to my face on command. I just have to close my eyes, count to ten & breath.
Stay tuned for more as we get closer to the first screening.
