Cinemakers: Christopher Nolan #041 – Inception (2010)
Inception is Christopher Nolan’s first wholly original film since Following, and perhaps his most mind-bending film in a career full of them. Sandwiched between the Dark Knight films, Inception is the culmination of a 10-year script process that Christopher Nolan had worked on since Insomnia wrapped. But with double the audience surrogates and 399 (!!!) questions asked by characters in the film, did things get a bit too complicated? Is it more or less rewarding than his other films when it comes to watching it a second time? We tackle these questions (well, not all 399 of them) and marvel at the practical effects of this film as we break down Inception. Just don’t be too upset if we have to stop and ask you for questions along the way… even we aren’t sure which level of the dream this episode takes place in.
