Watch The Theron #037 – A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014)
A Million Ways to Die in the West brings us back to a bygone era of Charlize Theron movies, and not in a good way. Like both Woody Allen movies we’ve covered on this podcast, A Million Ways to Die in the West seems like an ego-boosting fest for Seth MacFarlane. There’s a good amount of funny in this movie, it has an incredible score, and it’s gorgeous to look at. (Also, it has the most frustratingly ear-wormy song in a Charlize Theron movie so far.) But it’s hard to get past the film’s core deficiencies, namely the anachronistic dialogue and MacFarlane in the lead role. We’re joined by Dan “The Duke” Hayden (last heard on our Reindeer Games episode) as we head back to the Old West (Arizona in 1882) and try to make sense of this out-of-time (or OUTATIME!) story.
