#CruiseClub #009 – The Color of Money (1986)
After a series of movies starring Tom Cruise, The Color of Money puts him in the co-pilot’s chair as he cedes the spotlight to Paul Newman. Or does he? The Color of Money masterfully tells the story of two grifters, hustlers, and pool sharks, and we’re joined by Greg MacLennan to gush all about it. In this episode, we admire Tom Cruise’s samurai dance moves — along with his VINCE t-shirt — and wonder who’s really been conning who in this story. We also discuss past “Cruise Control” events at the Alamo Drafthouse, wonder if Tom Hanks could ever fit into this movie, and realize there may be a divide happening (already) between our two lead actors in the TomTom Club. Wondering what you can find in this episode? You already know the answer: “Doom.”
