#CruiseClub #016 – The Firm (1993)
If it didn’t immediately follow A Few Good Men, seeing Tom Cruise as a lawyer in The Firm may have been a revelation. Instead… it’s a bit of a mixed bag. But, importantly, a mixed bag we all mostly like! Joining us to talk about a pre-make of The Devil’s Advocate (minus the supernatural elements) is Tobin Addington of The Contenders. We discuss the film’s wildly overlong runtime, how it could have been cut down, and how it differs from the John Grisham novel. (Can you believe it took nearly 1,200 episodes on this network for us to cover a Grisham adaptation?!) We also talk about whether or not the plot twists were obvious, Tom Cruise’s many incredibly athletic feats in this movie, and the greatest office duo of all-time: Gary Busey and Holly Hunter.
